John was born in Forest City, Iowa and graduated high school in Spencer, Iowa. He completed undergraduate studies at the University of South Dakota and then worked as a journalist in Pierre, South Dakota, where he covered city, county, and state government. He attended Creighton University School of Law. During law school, he competed in the Saul Lefkowitz Moot Court Competition and won best brief in the nation out of 76 teams from 54 law schools. John then interned with the Trademark Trial and Appeal Board in Alexandria, Virginia. He graduated in 2017 with a juris doctorate and a master of government organization and leadership.
John resides in Le Mars with his wife and two children. John’s personal interests include technology, reading fiction, cooking, and camping.
John was admitted to practice in Nebraska in 2017 and Iowa in 2018. He is a member of the Iowa and Nebraska State Bar Associations.
From 2017-2018, John served as a law clerk in Iowa District 2B based in Nevada, Iowa. He then served as law clerk at the Iowa Court of Appeals, primarily to the Honorable Chief Judge David Danilson. Upon completion of this clerkship, he joined the Crary Huff Law Firm.
